Family Days Out Midlands – Belvoir Castle

•April 14, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Belvoir Castle (www.belvoircastle.com) is one of the most magnificent castles in the UK. It sits in Grantham, Leicestershire with a gorgeous view. We very much hope you will come and visit us and enjoy a wonderful day out at Belvoir Castle. Our hilltop setting commands stunning views over the Vale of Belvoir and with glorious gardens and fascinating magical castle to explore, there’s something for everyone at our family home.

We have various events taking place in the castle and park during our opening season, such as the Steam Festival, Napoleonic Wars, Teddy Bears Picnic, family fun days and the annual Fireworks Competition. The events start on Mothering Sunday when you can enjoy a tour of the magnificent Castle and the beautiful daffodils in the gardens, perhaps followed by Sunday lunch in the Stewards Restaurant or afternoon tea in the Old Servants’ Hall.
Whether you visit Belvoir for a family day out, a wedding or conference, I hope it will give you as much pleasure as it gives us.

Inside the castle are many notable collections, from the military treasures in the guardroom to the stunning staterooms with their impressive period art, tapestries, furniture and sculpture.
In contrast to the grandeur of the State Rooms, the Old Kitchen and Bakery will fuel your imagination of ‘below the stairs’ life in 1825. Our School Room and Nursery are well equipped for children to experience lessons and play in Regency times.
Costumed Guides and Tours
Our guides are often in costume and are more than happy to answer your questions and explain the history of the castle. On selected weekends they will perform ‘historical cameos’ such as the trial of the Belvoir Witches.
Guided tours are free and available during the weekdays at 12.30pm and 2.30pm or for groups at pre-booked times to suit.
